Chinku Koolwal
A venture scout and builder working across venture capital, technology and emerging ecosystems.
Path into venture capital
A degree in finance and accounting opened into a run of roles across private equity — analyst and associate work assessing companies and financial statements — alongside a period handling special projects and operations, and later time closer to the startup and venture side, including as an investment analyst with a venture studio. Each step moved the focus a stage earlier: from evaluating established companies, to investing in new ones, to building alongside them — a progression that led into Avvyun, founded in 2025, and continues through it today.

Avvyun is my primary focus: a venture capital platform investing in early-stage founders, and the investing side of that same shift toward company-building. Nuvvya is the builder's side of it — a technology studio making software products rather than backing them. Writing runs alongside both, a way of thinking through the same questions in public.
What interests me
Away from work, the pull is toward visual and physical pursuits — drawing, painting and fashion design on one side, go-kart racing and exploring unfamiliar cities on the other.
Languages
Schooling in Milan ahead of university in Boston meant working across languages early — English and Italian come most naturally, Hindi close behind, and French and Spanish at a lighter, conversational level.
